Can't disable automatic Copilot code review

I enabled the Automatic Copilot code review feature in my account settings, and later disabled it. However, copilot is still automatically added as a reviewer to all new pull requests, and there is no option to remove it from the list of reviewers.

I’ve tried toggling the setting several times, but the result is always the same - copilot remains on the reviewer list by default.

How to remove it?

This issue happens because GitHub Copilot’s Automatic Code Review feature, when enabled, adds Copilot as a default reviewer on your pull requests. Unfortunately, even after disabling the feature, Copilot might remain in the reviewers list due to caching or settings sync delays.

Here’s what you can try to fix this:

Steps to Remove GitHub Copilot from Reviewers

1. Double-check the Automatic Code Review setting

   • Go to your GitHub Copilot settings
   • Make sure Automatic Code Review is completely disabled.

2. Manually remove Copilot from reviewers

   • When creating a new pull request, look at the reviewers section and try to manually remove "GitHub Copilot" if it’s listed.
   • If the UI doesn’t allow removal, try editing reviewers after creating the PR.

3. Clear your browser cache or try a different browser

   • Sometimes UI glitches or cached data cause this issue.

4. Check if there’s a repository-level configuration

   • Some repos might have branch protection rules or review rules that auto-add Copilot. Verify repository settings with your admin.

5. Sign out and back in

   • Logging out of GitHub and back in can refresh your settings.

6. Contact GitHub Support

   • If none of the above works, GitHub Support can help reset this behavior on your account side: https://support.github.com/contact

The key is that disabling the setting should stop Copilot from auto-reviewing, but sometimes UI or backend sync issues cause it to “stick.” Manual removal or support help usually resolves this.

There is nothing in the repository settings, and it is disabled in my account.
