If your dashboard still shows 0, it usually means the sponsorship didn’t actually go through, since updates happen right away |

Hi! Thanks for reaching out about the issue with your GitHub Sponsors dashboard not reflecting a sponsorship despite receiving a screenshot from someone who claims to have sponsored you. This can be confusing, so let’s break down why this might be happening and what you can do to resolve it.Why Your Sponsors Dashboard Shows 0 Sponsors and $0.00There are a few possible reasons why the sponsorship isn’t appearing in your dashboard, even though the sponsor provided a screenshot:Processing Delay: While GitHub Sponsors dashboards typically update instantly, there can occasionally be short delays (a few hours) in processing sponsorships due to payment verification or system updates. For example, some users have reported delays in notifications or dashboard updates, though these are usually resolved within hours. Payment Issue: The sponsorship may not have been fully processed due to a payment issue (e.g., a declined credit card or incomplete transaction). In this case, the sponsor might see a confirmation on their end, but the payment hasn’t reached your account. Bug or System Error: There have been reports of sponsorships appearing in the “Active Sponsors” list but not triggering email notifications, activity feed updates, or Stripe transactions. This could indicate a bug, as noted in similar cases on GitHub’s Community Discussions. Incorrect Sponsor Account: The screenshot might be from a different GitHub account, or the sponsor might have mistakenly sponsored someone else. It’s worth verifying the details. Steps to Resolve the IssueHere’s what you can do to investigate and fix the problem:Verify with the Sponsor:Ask the sponsor to confirm the GitHub account they sponsored (ensure it matches your GitHub username). Check Your Dashboard Thoroughly:Go to your GitHub profile, click your profile picture in the top-right corner, and select Your sponsors. Look at the Sponsorships Activity Feed and Payouts sections to see if any transactions are pending. Check Your Stripe Account:If you’ve linked a Stripe Connect account, log in to your Stripe dashboard and check for any pending or completed transactions. Sometimes payments are processed but not yet reflected in GitHub’s dashboard. Ensure your Stripe account is fully set up with correct bank and tax information (e.g., W-9 for U.S. residents or W-8BEN for non-U.S. residents). Confirm Your Sponsorship Setup:Ensure your GitHub Sponsors profile is fully approved. If your application is still in “Pending” status, it might not process sponsorships. Some users have reported delays of weeks or months for approval, often due to missing information like tax forms or fiscal host verification. Verify that you’ve enabled two-factor authentication (2FA), as it’s required for GitHub Sponsors. If you’re using a fiscal host (e.g., Open Source Collective), check their platform to confirm your account is approved and linked correctly. Contact GitHub Support:If the sponsorship still doesn’t appear after a few hours, submit a ticket to GitHub Support. Include:The sponsor’s GitHub username. You can submit a ticket via GitHub Support. Some users have reported that support resolved similar issues after investigating payment or system errors. Note that GitHub’s review process for sponsorship issues can take a few days, but support can clarify if there’s a bug or payment issue. Check for Email Notifications:Look in your email (including spam/junk folders) for a sponsorship confirmation from GitHub. If you’ve enabled email privacy, it might come from [email protected]. If no email was received, this could indicate the sponsorship didn’t fully process. Does It Take Time to Update? In most cases, GitHub Sponsors dashboards update instantly when a sponsorship is successfully processed. However, as noted in community discussions, some users have experienced delays of a few hours for dashboard updates or email notifications. If it’s been more than 24 hours and you still see 0 sponsors and $0.00, it’s likely an issue with the payment, your account setup, or a system bug, rather than a standard delay. Final AdviceAct Quickly: Start by contacting the sponsor to confirm details and check your Stripe or fiscal host account. If there’s no update within 24 hours, reach out to GitHub Support with as much information as possible. Be Cautious: If the screenshot seems suspicious or the sponsor is unknown, verify their identity to avoid potential scams. If you need further help, feel free to share more details (e.g., how long it’s been since the screenshot was shared, or what your dashboard shows), and I can guide you further. You can also reach out to GitHub Support directly for a definitive answer. Good luck, and I hope this gets resolved soon! For more information, check:GitHub Sponsors Documentation |

I recently got a screenshot that a person had sponsored me, but when I checked my Sponsor dashboard, it still shows 0 sponsors and 0.00 dollars. How to know if someone has sponsored you because according to his screenshot he had sponsored me, but I cant find any updates on my Sponsors tab. Does it take any time to update or what?
