Not able to View Org mail id in the profile

I have added my company mail id to my profile and saved it successfully. But when I open my profile in incognito to check whether the mail id was shown or not, I am not able to see it. And then when I just added the same in the Bio, I am able to.

Can someone please help me out here?

🔒 Why your email doesn’t show up

On GitHub, the “Public email” field in your profile is optional and controlled by you. Just adding an email under Profile → Settings → Emails doesn’t automatically make it visible to the public.

Two things matter:

1. You need to select one email as “Public” under Profile → Settings → Public profile → Public email.
2. If you don’t set it, visitors (even in incognito) won’t see your email, only your bio and other details.

Also, GitHub hides emails in commits and profile by default to protect privacy and reduce spam. That’s why you can’t see the email unless you explicitly mark it public.

✅ How to show your email publicly on your GitHub profile

1. Go to [GitHub → Settings → Emails](https://github.com/settings/emails).

   • Make sure your company email is verified.

2. Go to [GitHub → Profile → Edit Profile](https://github.com/settings/profile).

   • Scroll to Public email.
   • Select your company email from the dropdown.
   • Click Update profile.

3. Now, when someone opens your profile (even incognito), your email will appear in the right-hand sidebar (under “Organizations” and above the “Follow” button).

• If you only add your email in Bio, it’s just plain text you typed — GitHub doesn’t treat that as your “public email”.
• If you want the official Public email field visible, you must set it in Profile settings.
• For privacy, many devs prefer keeping it hidden and instead linking to a company website or contact page.

That’s actually expected behavior. GitHub doesn’t show the email address from your profile settings publicly on your profile page (even in incognito). The email you add under Profile → Public email is mainly used for things like commit attribution, notifications, and to let others email you through GitHub if they want but it won’t appear as a visible text field on your profile.
If you want people to see your email directly on your profile, the workaround is exactly what you did: add it to your Bio or another custom field.
So nothing’s broken here it’s just how GitHub handles privacy by default.
