uv 0.8.2 fails with FileNotFoundError

I'm running pre-commit-uv with the following command:

uv run --no-sync --with pre-commit==4.2.0 --with uv==0.8.2 --with pre-commit-uv==4.1.4 pre-commit run --all-files

This was working with 0.8.0. With 0.8.2*, the same command started to fail with

An unexpected error has occurred: FileNotFoundError: ~/.local/bin/uv

* 0.8.1 fails with a different error.

I thought I was able to test it with 0.8.2 and it was working, but now I'm realizing that uv somehow install itself again and overrides the version I gave: https://github.com/ulgens/django-blasphemy/actions/runs/16538360765/job/46776164887?pr=708

In an earlier stage in that pipeline, I install uv==0.8.2, using astral-sh/setup-uv@v6 and it results with

Successfully installed uv version 0.8.2

but in the later stage, where I run uv run pre-commit, it automatically installs the latest uv:

[INFO] Using pre-commit with uv 0.8.3 via pre-commit-uv 4.1.4

and then pipeline fails. I'll test locally with 0.8.2 but do you have any idea why this happens?

It seems pre-commit-uv doesn't use the existing uv and it install its own. Specifying the uv version in uv run --with ... solved this issue; but this feels like a bug.

• 0.8.0 works fine.
• 0.8.1 fails with error: failed to read from file /home/runner/work/_temp/setup-uv-cache/archive-v0/KTodEQCkOfG_ZfiXs-Cm_/bin/uvx: stream did not contain valid UTF-8
• 0.8.2 fails with An unexpected error has occurred: FileNotFoundError: /home/runner/.local/bin/uv
