[General]: libgccjit.so: error: error invoking gcc driver

Issue description

I installed emacs plus with HomeBrew, on a system with MacOS 26 and a beta version of Xcode 26.
Installation went fine. The system also start and seems to be fully functional.

However, there is an error message during 'init'.

gcc itself seems to work fine. libgccjit.so is also installed

Deleting the eln-cache resolved the issue. So this might not be reproducible.

I deleted the eln cache and the problem persists.

I also got an eln-cache related crash after updating 30.2 on MacOS 26 and although just deleting the cache didn't fix it, deleting the cache and then starting it once in debug mode did the trick.

I had the error just now, Claude had me reinstall libgccjit from hoembrew, and then add this in my .zshrc:

export LIBRARY_PATH="/opt/homebrew/opt/libgccjit/lib/gcc/current:$LIBRARY_PATH"

has worked so far, will report back if it breaks 🫡

To document that for me, what worked was to edit /opt/homebrew/Cellar/emacs-plus@31/31.0.50/Emacs.app/Contents/Info.plist to add the following keys in

Then resign and clear the LaunchServices cached metadata:

$ /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -u "/opt/homebrew/Cellar/emacs-plus@31/31.0.50/Emacs.app"

I don't really understand why the brew package injects the PATH into the Info.plist LSEnvironment key. The PATH is sanitized by Emacs, so doing a (getenv "PATH") after start on a clean configuration, still gives the default `/usr/bin:/bin/usr/sbin:/sbin" anyway…

It would be more useful to inject the LIBRARY_PATH and CC as I proposed above imho…
