JupyterLab kernels with a static JupyterLite build

Currently this extension requires starting a JupyterLab server to have both regular and lite kernels available at the same time.

But it would be interesting to also enable the other way around: a static JupyterLite build with remote regular kernels.

In many situations, end users have no control on Jupyterlab service. Usually, end users cannot install any extensions in Jupyterlab, even decide the version of Jupyterlab. BTW, even GCP just supports Jupyterlab 4 service recently.
If remote regular kernels can be configured in Jupyterlite, it will be very helpful. For example, end users can choose UI extensions.
